2022 Ford Ranger SARRC T1+ Racer by Neil Woolridge Motorsport

In 2021 the Neil Woolridge Motorsport Ford Castrol team had a incredibly competitive season in the South African Cross Country Series, earning two race wins and ultimately securing second place overall at the end of the season. Unsatisfied with finishing second, the NWM Ford Castrol team opted to return for the 2022 series run, this time preparing a Dakar-grade next-generation Ford Ranger to campaign in the all-new FIA T1+ class.

The team began by extensively revising the Ranger’s latest chassis to accommodate the construction’s new suspension and widened, custom bodywork made entirely from a high-tech carbon fiber and aramid weave. . Boasting a wider 7.5′ stance, the new body also features small-hatch butterfly-style doors and ultra-flared fenders that open up space for its larger 17-inch wheels which are now shrouded in beefier 37-inch tires. Developed in conjunction with the experts at BOS Suspension, the T1+ Ranger rides on an all-new suspension package that has been redesigned with new upper and lower control arms, longer driveshafts and a unique new shock setup for each wheel with significantly larger shocks that provide 2.75″ of travel, bringing its total amount to almost 14″.

The Ranger is powered by Ford’s proven 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that produces up to 402 hp and 442.5 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle also meets the new series minimum weight figure of 4,400 lbs. Other notable elements on the rally raider include a cutaway bed, full length skid plate and undercarriage protection, revised gear ratios and an electronically limited top speed of 105 mph (was 112 mph) .

Backed by sponsors including Castrol, Mastercraft, Wűrth, Bosch, Sparco, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, Ironman 4×4 and Shatterprufe, Neil Woolridge Motorsport Ford Castrol Team Ford Ranger T1+ driver is set to make his South African Championship rally-raid 2022 competition debut at the Mpumalanga 400 in Dullstroom on March 25-26.
