Designed as an extreme, open-air 4×4 machine, the Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited 4xe Birdcage Concept features a variety of custom accessory innovations from Mopar’s Jeep Performance Parts (JPP), while proving its industry-leading capabilities , as well as its class-exclusive 4xe off-road plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Mounted on a 2-inch JPP First Lift Kit with FOX shocks, specifically designed and tuned for the PHEV electric Wrangler Unlimited 4xe, the dynamic Eagle Brown off-roader features Granite Crystal Metallic and various Jeep 4xe Surf Blue accents.
Improving the front approach angle on the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe Birdcage Concept is a custom skid plate that connects two 2-inch rounded steel support bars, integrated with the custom seven-slot grille. The sliding plate protects the recessed Warn winch, optimally placed to improve rock crawling performance. For a unique appearance, two low-mount Surf Blue enclosed tow hoops are securely attached behind the skid plate on the side of the frame to improve towing performance.
Five-spoke JPP beadlock wheels measure 17-inches x 8.5-inches and are mounted with 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires. New flat fender flares and custom wheel liners, designed specifically for larger wheel/tire combinations, provide additional clearance. Flat fender flares have removable integrated Daytime Running Light (DRL) covers for off-road enthusiasts who may need the extra tire clearance in extreme off-road situations. This concept is the first 50-state legal fender flare with OEM DRL and meets 50-state tire coverage requirements.
For added off-road protection with 37-inch tires, Jeep’s design team created taillight spacers to meet federal lighting requirements. The resulting location of the lighting assembly allows the concept of aluminum taillight guards to better defend against trail accidents.
The floor beneath the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe Birdcage Concept is illuminated by underbody rock lamps on all four corners, while custom rock rails on each side feature additional slide tubes fitted for added body protection.
For the serious off-roader looking for a true open-wheel, the windshield and wipers are done away with. The design team tastefully enclosed the dash and created custom cowl and wiper panel covers, creating a slick factory appearance while protecting against dirt and debris. JPP TYRI 14 inch off-road LED light mounted on the tri-concept header to provide sleek and modern lighting.
Inside, Tobacco Leaf and Cocoa Brown leather seats feature distinctive seat inserts and Surf Blue accent stitching, which is found on the dash, steering wheel, gearshift gaiter and brake handle emergency.
Front-seat occupants will find a custom JPP dash accessory rail that securely holds various mobile devices in place. Mopar stainless steel pedal covers use black rubber pads to provide the driver with good traction on the accelerator and brake pedals. Armorlite vinyl flooring throughout the cab provides a durable, easy-to-maintain surface with drain plugs for rinsing.
Mopar’s design team created the “Add-A-Trunk” trunk lid panel concept that keeps accessories secure when the roof is removed. Designed for any Jeep Wrangler model with the ability to easily store a full-size cooler, the Add-A-Trunk feature uses gas struts to lift the trunk lid panel for easy access when the swing door is open. Eight tie-down loops and five grocery bag hooks provide added functionality.
For additional storage, a 600-pound capacity Rhino-Rack cargo basket is securely mounted on top of the roll cage. Inside the tailgate panel, a swing-door JPP drop-down table provides the perfect work or dining space and sits alongside an integrated air compressor.
