Kia India launched the Sonet X-Line in early September to fully utilize the sales potential of the upcoming festive season. The sporty version of the standard Kia Sonet comes with a starting price of Rs. 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s based on the top-end GTX+ trim and boasts a host of cosmetic upgrades over the regular SUV. Let’s take a look at the most expensive Kia Sonet on YouTube by ‘TeamAutoTrend’.
Kia Sonet X-Line: changes from the regular Sonet
The highlight of the Kia Sonet X-Line is its exclusive Matte Graphite paintwork which really sets it apart as no other color offered in the Sonet gets a matte finish. It is inspired by the Seltos X-Line, which uses the same finish. Kia completely skipped the chrome elements of the X-Line trim and got a gloss black finish for the grille. As the changes to the Special Edition are mostly cosmetic, the ORVMs as well as the front and rear skid plate get a piano black finish.
Apart from that, the fog lamp housing also gets a dark chrome treatment, complementing the changes to the front profile. From the side, new 16-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels with gloss black treatment are the only visible upgrade, while chrome accents on the door handles and window trim remain the same. The X-Line logo is slapped on the right side of the tailgate and everything else remains more or less the same.
Inside the cabin, the X-Line is given an all-new two-tone Splendid Sage theme. The leather upholstery of the seats with contrasting orange stitching definitely does the trick. The same theme continues on the door panels and the X-Line logo is embroidered on the headrests.
As the X-Line is based on the top-end GTX+, the SUV gets all the bells and whistles such as Crown Jewel LED headlights with DRL, fog lights, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 25-inch, the Bose premium 7 system speaker with audible mood lights, ventilated front seats, connected car technology, smart air purifier, remote engine start and more. In terms of safety features, the X-Line is equipped with six airbags, ABS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), HAC (Hill Assist Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), Brake Assist and front and rear parking sensors, among others. .
Kia Sonet X-Line: powertrain and price
The Sonet X-Line is available in two powertrain options. The 1.0 liter tGDi petrol engine is good enough for 120PS and 172Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The 1.5 liter CRDi diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed AT torque converter and produces 113 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The former is priced at Rs. 13.39 lakh while the latter will set you back Rs. 13.99 lakh (former showroom).
