PLAINVIEW, Minnesota (KEYC) – FFA and Minnesota 4-H members are encouraged to help design the next specialty farm license plate.

Similar to the critical habitat license plates from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the specialized farm license plates will support farming programs provided by the FFA and 4-Hs across the state. There will be an annual contribution of $ 20 associated with the plaques.

At the end of the legislative session, the specialized agriculture plate was adopted as part of the state transport bill. Minnesotans will be able to purchase the specialized agricultural plate in early 2022.

To celebrate the announcement and launch the competition, FFA and 4-H members join Governor Tim Walz and other lawmakers at Farmfest Wednesday to make the announcement.

“We are delighted that the students are helping design the new plaque that will celebrate agriculture while enabling Minnesota residents to invest in students through the Minnesota FFA Foundation and the Minnesota 4-H Extension,” said Val Aarsvold, executive director of the Minnesota FFA Foundation.

FFA and 4-H members are encouraged to submit their designs as part of the process, with one member’s designs selected.

Contest organizers say creativity is encouraged as FFA and 4-H members design an image that represents the land and farming-related activities in Minnesota.

The deadline for submitting designs is October 1st.

More information and full contest details are available on the Minnesota FFA Foundation website and on the Minnesota 4-H Extension website.
