BOISE, Idaho (KMVT / KSVT) —The Motor Vehicle Division of the Idaho Department of Transportation is adding another convenient option to its online DMV services.
Idaho residents who recently purchased a vehicle from an Idaho dealership can now qualify to skip the trip to a county DMV office and instead register their new or used car from there. ” a smartphone, tablet or computer.
The transaction previously had to be done in person, but is now available online at dmv.idaho.gov. This is one of more than 15 DMV transactions that ITD offers to customers online.
“We are delighted to provide this online 24/7, including holidays,” said DMV administrator Alberto Gonzalez. “It gives you another choice to skip the line at the DMV to get your driver’s license, vehicle registration, or license plates. Skip the trip, save time and go online.
Customers will need the pink copy of the dealer’s ITD 0502 form to enter their vehicle information. Right now the service is not available for private sales and customers cannot transfer a current vehicle registration to their new vehicle online. A tutorial video is linked here.
ITD processes nearly 100,000 online DMV transactions each month, including address changes, driver’s license and vehicle license renewals, personalized plate orders, disclaimer forms and more. A full list is available at dmv.idaho.gov.
“Idahoan time is precious and with the state’s growing population, we know it more than ever. Giving more people the ability to complete their DMV business online means better customer service for everyone, ”said Gonzalez.
